Direct Student Admission Programme | DSA Singapore

 

​Juzmusic Academy has designed a pathway to assist students in achieving the specific music requirements of their school of choice through the MOE’s DSA-Sec programme. We will prepare you for your DSA applications through the MEP or performing arts CCA. Students who require this expedited DSA route should expect a higher commitment level of about 1-2 hours per week.

What is DSA-Sec?

DSA-Sec is a scheme that allows Primary 6 students to apply for admission to certain secondary schools.  Students who are successful in DSA-Sec secure a place in the school based on their talents and achievements in areas such as music, sports, leadership, or academics — before the PSLE results are released.

How is Juzmusic Academy able to help my child get into his/her secondary school of choice through DSA?

Our structured program includes:

  • DSA audition preparation and performance coaching
  • Portfolio building and documentation support
  • Guidance to participate in recitals and music festivals

With a clear strategy in place, Juzmusic Academy will support your child in working towards the necessary certifications in time for the DSA-Sec application.

 

What music certifications and/or other requirements are required to attain for DSA-Sec?

Music requirements for DSA-Sec vary across schools.  Beyond certification, schools may also have additional expectations, such as:

  • A commitment to a Performing Arts CCA (Music) from Year 1 to Year 4
  • Ongoing private music lessons (not school-funded) throughout secondary school
  • Restrictions on school transfers once admitted through DSA
  • Participation in an audition as part of the selection process

 

When Should my child start preparing for DSA?

As schools admit students via an audition or portfolio stating your child’s track record, students can start preparing for this portfolio from as young as Primary 1 or 2.
